Both pieces of replacement tubing should be attached first to the handle before attaching their other ends to the pouch; it is easy to re-align or replace the pouch sling attachments without removing the tubing from the handle.

Tubing:

• Leave the tubing extra long and cut to length after attaching to the handle; this allows both sides to be cut evenly, so they meet in the middle.
• Use Isopropyl alcohol (also called "rubbing alcohol"; it is cheap, relatively non-toxic and evaporates quickly) to lubricate one attachment point at a time. Work quickly, one at a time, to slide each end of the new tubing over its attachment point on the handle, about 1" of tubing past the bends, keeping both sides even. Be careful to twist the tubing to keep its curved end directed "outward", instead of between the attachment points.
• Using the old tubing as a guide for length, gently pull both ends of the new tubing down a center-line, so they are the same length. Tape and cut the new tubing, clean and square, using scissors.
• Let dry overnight or longer before heavy use.

Pouch Attachment:

• Two short lengths of strong cord - in this case, shoe strings - are tied as loops or "slings", using a non-slip "sheet bend" knot, such that when stretched tight, each is about the same length as the distance between the holes on the leather pouch.
• Leave the tails long until knots are tied, then cut them short and melt them using a lighter, before they fray too much.
• Keeping the sheet bend knot in the middle, create a "cat's paw" loop in one end of a sling and thread it through a hole in the leather pouch.
• Create another "cat's paw" loop in the other end and thread a piece of tubing through it, then cinch it tight.
• Make sure the slings go "up and over" consistently, where they attach on both sides.
• One side of the leather pouch must be designated forward, so that both knots and the rubber tubing ends are "outside", not between the slingshot attachment points. Adjust the cinch point of the Cat's Paw around the tubing until each end naturally points outward as tension is applied.
• Small difference in length between the two slings must be compensated for by matching the attachment points of the rubber bands near the leather pouch; this will make the pouch longer on one side than the other when balanced, and must be held that way when shooting!.
